Views From Mount Zini

Today is my partner, Simon’s, birthday. This is the first time he’s been away for his birthday so I left today’s activities up to him.

We’d spotted a place on the map, on the side of Mount Zini, that we felt would give us some great views across The Gulf of Kefalos.

We stopped at several points on route to get photos of a few of our favourite views that we discovered last year.

The volcanic island of Nisiros, which we’ll be visiting next Saturday, was an ethereal site, wreathed in mist.

On the map the road leading around the mountain to Panaghia is marked as a “surfaced road”. More like a dirt track that possibly becomes a river in winter! Somehow our little Suzuki Alto made it through and the view really is incredible čÖé

Weekly Photo Challenge: Saturated

What can I say? Today I was completely saturated in sea water and this fish is saturated in glorious colour.

This is an adult Ornate Wrasse (Thalassoma pavo). It’s one of my favourite fish to watch and photograph in the coastal waters of Kos.

I took this photograph using my Sony a58 DSLR inside an Aquapac waterproof case.

Swimming With Supper

Swimming With Supper

Snorkeling at Limionas today was great! When we came last year the sea on that side of the island was far too choppy to snorkel.

The Rock Ledge Photographed From In The Sea

The water is crystal clear and a shallow bay leads out beyond the rocks were the seabed drops away and you’re surrounded by lots of large fish.

Fish Supper Anyone?

There is a fish restaurant overlooking the bay that we will eat at one night, so who knows, I may have photographed my own fish supper!

Taste Of Autumn: In All Her Glory

Taste Of Autumn: In All Her Glory

Last week I gave you all a glimpse of my favourite tree, a Maple in the village, as my Wordless Wednesday post.

As all my posts for the next two weeks will be from the beautiful island of Kos, I thought I’d share a bit more of this wonderful trees autumnal colours.

I love sitting at either Bell’Amico restaurant or Taylor’s coffee shop opposite this tree, watching her glorious display.

I’ll bring the British Autumn back to you all in a couple of weeks. Until then be on the lookout for Kos Cats, Templar Castles, Greek and Roman ruins, lots of insects, stunning landscapes and some underwater photography too čÖé

I might not have much time to view many other blogs or reply to comments but please do leave them and I’ll catch up with you all properly when I return!

Taste Of Autumn: The Turn

Taste Of Autumn: The Turn

It’s now officially Autumn! My favourite season as the leaves paint the landscape into new tones of red and gold on a daily changing canvas.

These vines cover a wall at the end of our community gardens and they’re just on the turn now.

We’ll be in Greece for a few weeks so I’m wondering what this canvas will look like when we get home!

Taste Of Autumn: Lines And Patterns

Taste Of Autumn: Lines And Patterns

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Lines to Patterns

This week’s challenge lends itself perfectly to the colour and veins in a macro of an autumnal leaf.

I love seeing the detail in the leaves at this time of the year when the low sun shines through or on them.

Today has been a bit overcast, though, so I had to bring this hydrangea leaf inside and light it myself!
