Daily Prompt: Sad But True

Photographers, artists, poets: show us HARSH.

There are lots of times that a photographer needs to avoid harsh lighting but sometimes it’s exactly what’s needed!

This little leaf is only about 2cm long but a bright light brings out its finer details.

My main image has the leaf lit by one light source at an angle and the second image has the leaf completely backlit.

Even with a harsh light source, I think it’s true that there’s still a softness to this sadly, fallen leaf.

  7. I love the veins and arteries of leaves – backlit is fabulous – I’m always looking to capture leaves backlit by the sun to show up the patterns. Great images Sarah.
