Blue Monday: Bouquet

Today I have busy processing photos from Alana and Bobby’s Wedding last Thursday! I was really thrilled when Alana first told me of her colour scheme. To have such a beautiful blue within all their photos is just lovely 🙂

This is Alana’s gorgeous bouquet of ivory roses, blue delphiniums and fragrant herbs. Quite simply, delightful!

    That gorgeous bouquet reminds me of my daughter-in-law’s wedding. She chose the same colors and used the same blue flowers! Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

      • I don’t think I’d be very good at wedding photography….I think I’d get too nervous.

      • It is pretty nerve racking!! You have to be prepared for just about any eventuality. I had all my lighting and tripods, flash, backdrops etc in the car. I didn’t think I’d need them as I knew the venue and the forecast was good but with any kind of event photography you have to be prepared! Time always seems to fly by for getting group photos done. I try not to be one of those really pushy photographers as I want to see people relaxed and enjoying themselves! At the end of the day though you’re employed to do the job so you have to be assertive. The biggest job really is the processing of images afterwards. It can take weeks to get a full set done just right!! I like working with people though it’s such a joy when you capture a set of images that the couple and their families really treasure 🙂

      • Haha……so you can’t just pitch up with one camera and lens then 😉. I guess it would get easier after the first couple, but I still don’t think it’s for me. Are you a professional photographer then?

      • I had 2 camera bodies and 4 lenses! As it was a big wedding I also had my partner, Simon, assisting me so that makes 3 cameras and 6 lenses altogether!!!

        I want to start doing more regular wedding photography but specialise in small, intimate weddings. I’ve known Bobby for quite a while so was happy to take on a special request 🙂

        You raise an interesting question there, Mark! What really makes a “professional” photographer? Some might say I am semi-professional as I do get paid for some of my work! I’ve always considered myself to be an artist who carries out their work to a high quality, professional standard. I’ll apply the same standards to any work I do, whether it’s paid or not. I might suggest this to Leanne as an “Up for Discussion” post.

      • I take your point….but the best definition I’ve come across (and this is purely on the basis of income) is that the majority of your income must come from photography to be considered professional. Anything less would be semi-pro or amateur. I’m definitely amateur as I have only sold one print, so I don’t think that qualifies for anything me for anything else 😊

      • I guess that would make me professional but I don’t think that that necessarily makes me a better photographer/artist than many “amateurs”! I don’t have a large income from my work as I struggle with my illnesses.
