Oh, I don’t mind the noise of these birds! How lovely to see a chaffinch and a nuthatch and great tit! Is this from Simon’s mum’s garden?
It is indeed 🙂 No sign of the woodpecker while we were there but great to see so many others! The goldfinch didn’t stay for long but was a lovely bright visitor with a very distinctive song. I love waking up to a full on dawn chorus 🙂
There are loads of goldfinches at my M-i-L’s neighbour’s feeding stations. Such colourful birds for us.
I absolutely love them 🙂
Absolutely agree, bird calls are fantastic – and a dawn chorus the best. Love these pictures – did you have a crack at the kingfishers as you were planning? Love your final shot especially – Mr Chaffinch! Adrian
Thanks Adrian 🙂 I couldn’t get close enough to where the Kingfishers are seen most near Wisley. Caught a distant flash of colour! I still need to get back down to Devon and go out with my sister and brother-in-law to where they have seen one. Yes, lol, Mr Chaffinch looking right at me in defiance 😉
Great captures. 😀
Spoiling us again 🙂
Beautiful captures, and such a great variety. I was walking through sunlit woods today enchanted by the birdsong….such a pretty noise 🙂
Thanks Seonaid 🙂 It’s such a wonderful sound isn’t it? Like a personal serenade!
Oh I love these sweet little songbirds! Our goldfinches have gone now but will soon be replaced by the juncos. Wonderful images!
Thanks Susan 🙂 I remember your previous photos of the Juncos! Such cute little birds 🙂 Hope you get to photograph them again!
Just lovely…
Thanks Lor 🙂
Hi Sarah, These are photos are just so beautiful. Felt happier just looking them! Also makes me want to take up photography (which probably includes getting a good and proper camera instead of my little point and shoot.)
Thanks Sze Wey 🙂 I do enjoy spreading some happiness! You’re taking some nicely composed images with your compact camera so you’d probably really enjoy using a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. It’s important to have a good selection of lenses for different situations! What’s your doctorate in?
Thanks! What DSLR would you recommend for a beginner? Something easy to use and compact. I think about it every time I see awesome photos by someone like yourself and wish I could do the same! (I am a medical doctor by the way)
If you want something relatively compact then mirrorless tech cameras would be well worth you looking at! I’d go with Fuji http://www.fujifilm.eu/uk/products/digital-cameras/interchangeable-lens-cameras/ or Sony http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/interchangeable-lens-camera-products/t/interchangeable-lens-cameras
You might want to try your hand with a Bridge Camera first which has a fixed lens but can be used on manual settings like a DSLR. You can control aperture (f number), ISO (film speed), shutter speed and manual focus. Fuji and Canon do some great bridge cameras!
Do you follow Leanne Cole who’s also in Melbourne? She belongs to a few photography clubs that you’d probably find really useful and fun 🙂
Thanks so much for your tips!! I am reading up on your links now. I will also check out Leanne Cole.
My pleasure 🙂 Enjoy!
Birdsong is always a favourite noise…even when the dawn chorus gives an early alarm call on summer mornings! Lovely shots, Sarah.
Thanks Jenny 🙂 I find it so uplifting!
