One Four Challenge: March Week 3

There’s a magical, timeless quality to the moors that I wanted to try to convey with this week’s edit for the March One Four Challenge, hosted by Robyn Gosby at Captivate Me. I could have replaced the original sky with another from my files but I decided to see just what I could do by using adjustment layers and the original image only. I’ve attempted to create an ambiguous scene; sunrise or sunset, the start or the finish, now or then?

  1. And there you go! Blasting the cover off the expected. I especially like the foreground grasses lit up perfectly in touch with all the wild light in the background. Marvelous!

  2. WOW radical change this week πŸ™‚ I like the touchups to the grass in the foreground to bring it all together πŸ™‚

      • Im beginning to be a bit braver with layers and masking, its a lot of fun and so flexible!

      • It gets addictive πŸ˜‰ The flexibility and range of adjustments is the real draw! Eventually I want to start writing some action recipes with layers linked into groups like the Greater Than Gatsby ones that I use πŸ™‚

      • that zooming sound is what you just said flying past my brain at high speed – action recipes?

      • Oops, sorry, just did to you what the other half does to me all the time when he talks about software development!!! Recipes are a grouped collection of multiple adjustment layers and effects. Actions are available in PS CC and CS6 that apply grouped effects. There are some Adobe presets already loaded and you can buy others or write your own. Greater Than Gatsby has some free sample actions you can download and play with to see how they work.

      • just checked out the site, it looks like it does in one click what I do myself with several layers/masks/textures/overlays. Couldn’t find a free sample tho 😦

  3. Holy cow!! This is awesome Sarah πŸ˜ƒ
This is such a punchy image! Love that you used all of the original to create this. Amazing and kinda speechless. Not quite obviously, but WOW 😜😜

  4. I, too, like the fact you used the original to create this, Sarah…. amazing! I wouldn’t have a clue how to create this sort of effect, rarely use PS. Excellent πŸ˜€

  5. Really nice, this has taken the image to the next level with the surreal landscape. It works because it doesn’t look like an over processed image but one that has been crafted. Really great work.
