Strength and Vulnerability

Every Day Is Different: Day 5

Butterfly

Handle them with care
So strong yet vulnerable
Delight in their flight

Shelter them from cold
Watch out for them as the sun
Warms their wings again

Dance with them in Spring
As you’ve never danced before
Celebrate sweet life

Every Day Is Different

  1. And just how did you get that yellow butterfly to land on a purple flower? Complimentary colours and compliments to the artist you are, with your photos and poetry.

    • Thanks Ardys πŸ™‚ Ah, you get to learn what butterflies like and they all love this particular flower! Glad you see all the yellow. From a distance they just look white. Up close is when you see that there’s just so much more to our Large White πŸ™‚

  2. Absolutely stunning, Sarah – I feel that I could reach out and touch that butterfly. A very valued memory of mine is of having a Red Admiral climb up onto my outstretched finger in our garden – it was a very cold late autumn day, and maybe he needed my finger’s meagre warmth – but, whatever, an unforgettable meeting. Adrian

    • Red Admirals are very territorial and sometimes I think almost brazen πŸ˜‰ They’re one of our overwintering species so he probably was enjoying the warmth. There’s something absolutely magical about that kind of encounter with a butterfly πŸ˜€ I have been obsessed with them since childhood. I love looking at our native species up close! There’s so much intricate detail and colour on a White. Glad to have brought back fond memories to you Adrian πŸ™‚
