Blue Monday: Ornate Wrasse
Still studying hard for our dive training which starts on Friday! So excited 🙂 In the meantime here’s a gallery of ornate wrasse photographed earlier this year in the seas around the coast of Kos.
Blue Monday is hosted by Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor in honour of Smiling Sally
OMG! How beautiful! We have a koi pond and I thought they were pretty until I saw some of these beauties. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your dive.

Thanks so much Joy 🙂 I love koi!! It’s quite intensive keeping koi. The wrasse are my favourite fish to watch around the coast of Kos 🙂
They are other-worldly colours, Sarah! Good luck with the diving training – sounds very energetic…..
Thanks Sue 🙂 They’re definitely the most colourful fish we’ve seen in the Mediterranean! Once you get the hang of the Scuba skills it’s actually quite relaxing 🙂 Training has been pretty full on though!
Dunno how you do it!
Everything is so much easier for me in the water!! Doing more hydrotherapy at physio in January to try and get my finning muscles working a bit better. One of the best things about diving is that everything is done slowly and steadily. Once you master your buoyancy control with breathing you can just hover almost weightlessly in the water 😀
Interesting! I’m not a water baby, though….
Give it a go! See if you can get some hydrotherapy locally. It’s wonderful for reducing pain and getting muscles moving 🙂
From one underwater photographer to another, well done Sarah. Very colourful!
Thanks Chris 🙂 Thank you for suggesting the olympus too! It’s really great for the snorkeling. I hope to be able to invest in a decent dive light to make the photography easier and really reveal the colours 🙂
Fantastic captures, Sarah! Underwater shots, wow!!
Thanks so much Amy 🙂 The underwater world is a magical place!
Have fun on your course, once you pass you’ll never want a dry holiday again!
Thanks Ed 🙂 I love being in the water!! We snorkel most days in Kos anyway so adding in the dives is going to be awesome. Already planning a couple of dives in Swanage at Easter 🙂 Hoping to see the cuttlefish under the pier!
beautiful captures!!!
Thanks Cybele 🙂 They’re such great fish to photograph! Such colour and character.
Hello Sarah, Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. We have family for Thanksgiving and busy is and understatement.
Love the pretty fish.
Hugs,
Jeanne
Hi Jeanne 🙂 Sounds like you’ve had your hands full!! Very busy with festive gatherings here too now 🙂 It’s all fun but frantic!
What a wonderful fish – electric blue lives! A 🙂
Thanks Adrian 🙂 They’re such fun to watch! I had never expected to see such vibrant fish in the Mediterranean, they look like they belong in tropical waters 🙂
