A Safe Pair Of Hands

ShareMondays2020 – In Safe Hands

My favourite image of the week is my nephew, Finley, playing at hand-clapping with my mum. I’m not allowed cuddles yet as a shielded person, but to be able to get together in the garden, as a family, was wonderful. Seeing my parents being able to rekindle this special bond with their grandson was so very precious!

Going To Seed

ShareMondays2019 – Going To Seed

I think this is my favourite image from last week! Firstly, it’s a butterfly, secondly it’s on a seed pod and last but not least, this was the moment the sun came out after a pretty wet and miserable day. I love this time of year, the sunlight has become golden again, the plants are all coming into their Autumn colours and structure. I’m really enjoying having a decent macro lens again, allowing me to get up really close to my favourite things. Have a great week everyone!

There’s Light At The End Of The Universe

There’s Light At The End Of The Universe

Please excuse my play on words here! For anyone still in the dark, this flower is called Cosmos. I caught sight of it lifted by the breeze into this natural frame, glowing in the sunlight, a brief moment in time captured for posterity on camera. I live for these beautiful moments, these simple pleasures. How often have you heard the old saying “There’s light at the end of the tunnel”? For me, far too often and usually when the tunnel I’m in has no map and branches into an infinite number of other tunnels! Well, most tunnels have vents. They let in the air and the light. That’s what this flower and the title represent to me, a pause in the daily struggles of life, enabling me to breathe fresh air and soak in the sun. For that limited span, I can be as carefree as the flower, just drifting in the breeze. Time stretches when I’m caught in such moments. I don’t even have to think anymore! Quite a relief really. I often think far too much about far too many things. So I think I will share my moment in time with everyone for the Wex Mondays challenge. It seems most fitting! Good Luck everyone and thank goodness for nature, art and the starlight that made us all!

Daily Prompt: Sad But True

Photographers, artists, poets: show us HARSH.

There are lots of times that a photographer needs to avoid harsh lighting but sometimes it’s exactly what’s needed!

This little leaf is only about 2cm long but a bright light brings out its finer details.

My main image has the leaf lit by one light source at an angle and the second image has the leaf completely backlit.

Even with a harsh light source, I think it’s true that there’s still a softness to this sadly, fallen leaf.
