After my success at having an image chosen for the RHS Photographic Competition Calendar last year (2015 Calendar) with my photograph Round Robin, I am putting a selection of images forward, for this year’s competition, in the hope of being published again! My dream, of course, would be to have the cover image! This is a gallery of my favourites for the relevant categories, but I may not be able to include them all because of costs. I would really appreciate it if you, my lovely followers, could help me choose the favourites by “liking” them in the gallery or advising me in a comment! Thank you all 🙂
Matthew has found his feet! He had a great time toddling about on the grass at RHS Wisley Gardens yesterday. He may not be able to go too far or too fast yet but once they’re up and going, there’s no stopping them. Good luck to his mum, Charlotte!
The greatest adventure of all is awaiting young Matthew – life! Childhood itself is a mini-adventure within the overall story of our lives and Matthew, his brother Callum and their cousins are enjoying every moment of it together. Watching them all playing together at Matthew’s First Birthday party was a joy. Matthew is certain to be taking his first unaided steps any day now and once he’s off there’ll be no stopping him! I’ve added in some captions on Matthew behalf for these galleries 😉
They all had fun playing outside in garden together. They tried to rope me in to playing “It”, but my running-round-the-garden-screaming days are, sadly, a bit behind me now!
I love the way small children can turn just about anything into the greatest toy EVER!
I’m actually a bit late with my post this week! It’s been a busy one. I very nearly used this image for last week’s Travel Theme: Simplify, as the photo was taken in a busy park with numerous distractions in the background that I’d needed to eliminate. I decided to do this using several textured masking layers in Photoshop, to draw the viewers focus back to the endearing portrait of the girl with her young puppy.
You can create your own textures to use in this way simply by photographing interesting textured scenes or objects. Rocks, fabrics, bricks and handmade paper are all great for this! There are a number of websites offering free texture downloads for personal and commercial use and right here on WordPress you can visit Public Domain Textures for a wide selection to choose from. Thank you to Leanne Cole for introducing me to the blog, for which she is a regular contributor!
Eliza was one of several children keeping us on our toes and entertained at a friends barbecue on Saturday. You can see in those big blue eyes that she’s full of mischief! Life is such an adventure when you’ve just found your feet 🙂
