Twelve Days ‘Til Christmas: On The Tenth Day

Twelve Days 'Til Christmas: On The Tenth Day

Daily Prompt: My Number One

Photographers, artists, poets: show us CHERISH.

On the tenth day of Christmas, whatever did I see?
Ten cats-a-waiting,
Nine lady dancers,
Eight cows for milking,
Seven ducks-a-swimming,
Six troopers trooping,
FIVE GOLD COINS!
Four friends at Wisley,
Three kids and Chitty,
Two pipers playing
AND
A Santa with a rabbit on his knee!

Going away to Banbury for a great night of music is great fun but it’s lovely coming home to our cherished girlies, Juno and Luna 🙂

I love creating these photomontages for many reasons. Most of all I love doing them for Simon, just to see the look of pride in his face. My biggest fan, my strongest supporter, my number one!

Twelve Days ‘Til Christmas

Twelve Days 'Til Christmas

Daily Prompt: Mad As A Hatter

Photographers, artists, poets: show us RAGE.

On the seventh day of Christmas, whatever did I see?
Seven ducks-a-swimming,
Six troopers trooping,
FIVE GOLD COINS!
Four friends at Wisley,
Three kids and Chitty,
Two pipers playing
AND
A Santa with a rabbit on his knee!

When I left the house today the skies were blue, the sun was shining and all was crisp, bright and beautiful! As I was just approaching the lake at RHS Wisley Gardens, to get my “seven swimming ducks” photo, the skies clouded over, the heavens opened and I was the one nutter-in-a-wheelchair singing in the rain 😉

And, yes, I know the prompt says “show us rage” but the funny thing is, when you’re as Mad as a Hatter there’s not much that will actually get you that riled!

Twelve Days ‘Til Christmas: On The Fourth Day

Twelve Days 'Til Christmas: On The Fourth Day

Daily Prompt: Memories of Holidays Past

What is your very favourite holiday? Recount the specific memory or memories that have made that holiday special to you.

Photographers, artists, poets: show us BELOVED

Keep Singing!

On the fourth day of Christmas, whatever did I see?
Four friends at Wisley,
Three kids and Chitty,
Two pipers playing
AND
A Santa with a rabbit on his knee!

Another great family day out, this time at RHS Wisley Gardens. My godchildren, Rosie and James, are very precious to me. As is their mum, my beloved friend Nikki!

Nikki’s mum, Chris, and my parents joined us today for a wander through the Wild Woods watching the birds feasting on berries and singing in the trees.

Then we headed for The Glasshouse to see the beautiful Christmas displays. The Glasshouse team have been very clever this year with the combinations of plants and baubles leading through the different climatic zones!

Another great holiday memory to add to a treasured catalogue 🙂

Daily Prompt: My Precious

What else could I possibly post for this prompt! Our two precious girls, Luna and Juno.

They both want to wish Mr Bowie well for his exploratory surgery tomorrow. Paws will be crossed! Mr Bowie is clearly very precious to his human, Herman. Our thoughts are with you.

Daily Prompt: Fifteen Minutes

Photographers, artists, poets: show us THE BIG MOMENT.

Today I did a photoshoot with brothers, Callum and Matthew.

Callum loves being photographed, a real studio star! Here’s his big moment helping his Auntie Sarah make sure that the lighting is set up just right 🙂

Daily Prompt: The Power of Touch

Textures are everywhere: The rough edges of a stone wall. The smooth innocence of a baby’s cheek. The sense of touch brings back memories for us. What texture is particularly evocative to you?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us TEXTURE.

Our home is filled with my artwork! The paintings hold precious memories for me. Those memories are bitter-sweet as I can no longer paint due to Fibromyalgia.

This photo is from a small section of an oil-on-board that I painted many years ago and still has great tactile appeal. I often find myself running my hand across the painting as I walk past it.

To Prevent Confusion

To Prevent Confusion

Daily Prompt: Land of Confusion

Some people are still having a bit of difficulty telling the difference between the kittens!

Although the sisters are similar tortoiseshell and white, they’re actually quite distinctive in looks and personality!

Luna is wary but also loopy and loving. Juno is bold as brass but also soppy and affectionate. They’re both full of fun and very pretty 🙂

I have prepared a little, photographic identification aid to avoid any further confusion!

Taste Of Autumn: Sweet Treat

Taste Of Autumn: Sweet Treat

Daily Prompt: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry…

Photographers, artists, poets: show us DINNER.

The Sweet Chestnut is a traditional part of the Christmas Dinner here in the UK. Cooked with Brussels Sprouts, as part of a vegetarian pâté or nut-roast, in soup or within a seasonal stuffing to accompany your choice of roast bird!

DSC06986

All through the Autumn and Winter, roasted chestnuts are sold from carts on the streets, in parks and at fairs. I’ve never eaten any from a street vendor but the smell always makes me feel seasonal and warm!
