Hiding The Gifts

Hiding The Gifts

Hiding The Gifts

It’s Christmas Eve and hopefully your tree is fully dressed and festive! This helpful Wisley redwing is demonstrating the perfect way to hide a few gifts among the branches and decorations on your tree. When you leave some food out for Santa and his reindeer don’t forget to top up the bird feeders!

Twelve Day’s ‘Til Christmas: On The Eleventh Day

Twelve Day's 'Til Christmas: On The Eleventh Day
On the eleventh day of Christmas, whatever did I see?
Eleven gifts need wrapping!
Ten cats-a-waiting,
Nine lady dancers,
Eight cows for milking,
Seven ducks-a-swimming,
Six troopers trooping,
FIVE GOLD COINS!
Four friends at Wisley,
Three kids and Chitty,
Two pipers playing
AND
A Santa with a rabbit on his knee!

These wrapping decorations were in my local gift shop, Apples & Pears. Just a few more gifts to wrap and I’m all set! Are you all ready for Christmas? Reduce your stress levels with a happy song 😉

All That Glitters

All That Glitters

After such lovely feedback from yesterday’s post I thought I’d treat you all to a golden bokeh to say thanks 🙂

My local gift shop has been re-branded as Apples & Pears and is an absolute treasure trove of shiny, pretty things! They are kind enough to let me photograph some of their gifts from time to time.

I really enjoy finding little, abstract gems in the details of ornaments. Hope you like them too!

Daily Prompt: State of Your Year

Write up a mid-year “State of My Year” post.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us NOW.

West Byfleet, where I live, is a small town that feels more like a village in community spirit. When I first moved here, I loved that we had so many small businesses and independent retailers.

Now, only the strongest survive. We’ve lost bookshop, fishmonger, grocer, music shop, florists, café, Woolworths, bathroom showroom, computer repair-shop all to the recent years of economic strife.

Thankfully one of my favourite local shops, Heather Forster, is still going strong. Today they moved into new premises, still within the heart of the town.

The shop is a treasure trove of all things bright and beautiful. When I need to look for a card or gift, Heather’s is my first port of call. There’s always something a bit different, quirky, unusual.

It’s independent shops like Heather Forster that are still at the heart of communities across the country, with a smile and a few kind words for each and every customer who comes through the doors.

Congratulations, to you all, on the new shop and long may you remain at the centre of West Byfleet!

All Things Bright And Beautiful

All Things Bright And Beautiful

We have a wonderful card and gift shop here in West Byfleet called Heather Forster (link through the image) and they kindly let me photograph some of the pretty objects in the shop today. Of course this being a “photo a day” blog, I could only choose one of them! This is it 🙂 Please do have a guess at the object I’ve photographed. I loved the shape and lights but most of all, on a grey, dreary day, I love the bright colours!
