ShareMondays2018 – Emerald
Downy Emerald Dragonflies are found mostly in the South of England. They’re on the wing now at Thursley Common National Nature Reserve. I was able to watch a number of them flying around the edge of The Moat Pond next to the reserve car park. They’re very territorial and quite mesmerising to watch, darting about with the metallic greens and golds flashing in the sunlight! I’m sharing this image today for ShareMondays2018 and the Wex Mondays challenges. Good luck to everyone taking part!
Hitching A Ride
This young terrapin in the pond, at Plaka nature reserve, on Kos made me laugh on Saturday! I would have taken to the water quite happily in the heat of the day but it persisted in hitching a ride off the adults. It’s the first time I’ve seen young terrapins at the pond. Plaka is a beautiful forested area with a stream and natural spring water. My next few posts will feature a few more creatures found in the reserve. This image is my entry for the Fotospeed challenge this week. Good luck to all taking part!
“A state of emergency has been called in a picturesque English village as angry pond fish turn on the parents of small children feeding bread to them and the ducks! The head carp was quoted as saying “We’re fed up with all this processed mush! We will continue to eat the large humans until the small ones learn to bring us REAL food!” The ducks thought the whole thing was just quackers!”
Happy April Fools!!
