Taste Of Autumn: Late Rose

Taste Of Autumn: Late Rose

Festival Of Flowers: Week 15

It’s the last Friday Flower post for this year now that the autumnal equinox is practically upon us. Not that you won’t be seeing a few more floral posts from me before the year is out!

Thank you, Jackie, for hosting this challenge. Glad to have found a few other interesting bloggers taking part!

Here’s a late rose budding in our communal gardens. I loved the shape of this bud and hope you all will like it too. Have a great weekend everyone!

Ruby

Ruby

Today the family gathered at local Italian restaurant, That’s Amore, to celebrate my parents Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations Mum and Dad!

It’s been a wonderful day with wonderful food and company too. There was also much laughter and spontaneous singing 🙂

The sun was low in the sky when we got home and created the perfect light to showcase this ruby-red rose.

The weekend is complete and so am I, with a very full belly and a full heart to match!

For Lou

For Lou

Today is my friend Lou’s birthday. Sadly she is no longer with us to celebrate.

If she had been, then today we would have sat in the garden, drinking Rosé or Pimms, enjoying the sun and admiring the flowers 🙂 And laughing! There was always lots of laughter.

She’d be 43 today so, Lou, here are 43 roses, photographed today, from me to you. Thank you for being such a special part of my life. I miss you and I cherish the wonderful memories that I hold in my heart.

Hope

Hope

Summer sun bleeds
Brilliant light in streams
Caught in bright petals
Soft as skin brushed
By tears from a crushed
And lonely soul.

My summertime spirit
Fled as you died.
All warmth has bled
Away and left me
Gripped in Winter’s
Icy embrace.

Your sweet grace
Haunts my every move
You sat beneath
This golden bloom
Before it was even a bud,
Before the new shoots,
Back when it was cut.

It shines with the gilt
Hue of your precious eyes,
It’s beauty cries out hope
But I am hard of hearing.
I’m not ready for healing.

Summer Glow

Summer Glow

The first roses in our communal gardens have bloomed just in time for the start of June and Summer 🙂

We have many rose varieties in our gardens so I’ll try to get a photo of each of them, during the summer, to show you all the different flower shapes and colours.

There are some fabulous Rose Gardens around the world. Here in the UK, June is the month to see them at their best. The Jubilee Rose Garden at RHS Wisley is stunning and The RHS has a list here of others you may want to visit.

With Love and Roses

With Love and Roses

With Love and Roses

From miles away
You heard my heart
Beat irregular, strained.
You caught the tear
That, outwardly unshed,
Fell from my soul.
Subconsciously you felt
The shift of my mood,
Spiralling into shadows.
You understood, more than I,
This sudden and unwanted
Urge to cry, to hide.
You seem to see inside
This delicate mind,
Perhaps because we are
Of one and the same.
Then you came home to me
With love and roses.
