Some more of Bushy Park’s wonderful wildlife! I shall let the images speak for themselves this week.

The sounds of nature draw me to the outdoors just as much as the sights! During the Autumn, one sound that absolutely captivates me is the red deer stags, booming out their challenges across the Royal Parks. This stag was at Bushy Park last Wednesday, just outside the Woodland Gardens. I had to answer his call and left the enclosed gardens to see him set against the golden afternoon light on the bracken. Just magnificent! It’s really important to keep a respectful distance from the deer during the rutting season and I would urge other park visitors NOT to approach, or try to feed, the deer at this time. Stand back and enjoy the show! This image was taken using the Fujinon 100-400mm with 1.4x teleconverter so that I could keep that distance.

Fetching Fascinator!

I just loved the spray of bracken on this stag’s head as he posed in Bushy Park last week! Made me think of the various fascinators that women wear for formal occasions. It really was very fetching indeed! This is going to be my entry for Wex Mondays today. Have a great week everyone.

This was the scene I wanted to see at Bushy Park but the mist had lifted at this point! I loved the poise and composition with this stag by the lake though and had to create my own impression. A bit of Nik Analog Efex and some Topaz overlays soon brought my vision together! I also processed it with more detail using Topaz Clarity. Which scene do you prefer?

The Call Of The Wild

Last Tuesday I got up obscenely early to go to Bushy Park to see the deer rut in the morning mist. The mist was minimal and there was no actual rutting, just a lot of bellowing! The bellowing was most impressive though as was the Autumnal colour in the bracken and trees. Before I left, the sun had cleared the cloud away and most of the stags were having a rest. I made a little video of one stag lying down by the lake, hope you like it!
