Weekly Photo Challenge: The Sign Says
“A chicken can be a phoenix if it wants!” – Elaine McGinty
It was the grand opening of The Phoenix Cultural Centre in Woking today and what a glorious day it was! Great music, some really interesting people to chat with, LOVELY food, quite a few cups of tea, the children had loads of fun, the shop looks brilliant, Simon’s cupcakes went down a treat, the sun shone and the venue was packed!
“The Phoenix Cultural Centre is a partnership from the Community of Woking bringing it’s charity, music, learning and cultural expertise together to provide a central hub for ALL! We are Ethical, Inclusive. Welcoming. Diverse. Community Driven. Bringing ALL the communities of Woking together to enjoy original live music and culture.”
Raj Chetri opened the shop/small venue for us today. Raj has been working in his professional life as a mental health nurse for 44 years and voluntary, for Woking, since 1985 developing One World Week and Party representing all Woking’s Communities. Local MP for Woking, Jonathan Lord, also joined us along with his young daughter, who told me she’s now going to learn the guitar! She was very inspired by Lisa Von H and her pink hair 😉
