Weekly Photo Challenge: Beginning
Our fabulous holiday in Kos last year began with a flight across Europe. So often when I’ve flown it’s been at night but this time we flew in the afternoon, arriving in Kos just after sunset.
As we crossed the Central Eastern Alps, then flew south along the ridges of the Balkan Mountains we were treated to the most magnificent views!
The landscape below became an otherworldly vista, reminiscent of the finest artworks by fantasy and science fiction visionaries.
I wished for dragons to come soaring up through the cloud banks, carried on warm thermals, delighting in the freedom of flight, bellowing their joy and lighting up the skies in bright conflagration.
Wonderful photos – formations and colours! What a fantastic beginning to your holiday 🙂
Thanks Jude 🙂 I’m not sure what my fellow travellers thought when the DSLR came out with two lenses and the polariser 😉 The cloud formations were just perfect!
Wonderful series of images 😀
Thanks Iain 🙂 I’d love to have the opportunity to do more aerial photography!
Transported and floating 🙂
Good 🙂 That was my goal!
Just stunning …. wonderful entry.
Thanks Viveka 🙂 I’ve been looking forward to having the right opportunity to share them!
Great choice .. for this challenge. *smile
Thanks Viveka 🙂 There were so many different ways to interpret the challenge this week!
You’re right .. but I was struggling – but I got in the end.
Breakfast is a good beginning 🙂 We always have a special Christmas breakfast with duck eggs and smoked salmon!
Very nice … I only had duck eggs once and it was served with Russian caviar. On a very nice restaurant outside Bath in UK. I like duck egg – but never had again. Nothing we really eat in Sweden.
Now I’ve never had caviar! Love the slightly richer flavour of duck egg yolks 🙂 I went to a great conference in Stockholm about 10yrs ago and absolutely loved the food we had. Lots of cured meats and cheese 🙂
Yes, we are spoiled with great food over here. A cafe or restaurant wouldn’t survive if the food and products was good. I never had a bad meal in Sweden, lunch or dinner.
I loved the breakfasts! I’d love to visit Sweden again and see more of the country
Sarah, you’re welcome anytime. *smile … It’s truly a beautiful country.
Fingers crossed!
Gorgeous photos!!
Thanks Shannon 🙂 Those wonderful views certainly made the flight a lot more pleasant!
Beautiful Sarah, I love flying through the otherworldly cloudscape…..I get lost in its mysteries and you certainly caught its beauty! Gorgeous shots.
Thanks Seonaid 🙂 Never thought a RyanAir flight could actually be tranquil!

I know you had fun playing with these photos – great textures!
I did have fun with them 🙂 They were all processed in Lightroom although I didn’t need to do too much with some of the earlier photos. Thanks for visiting!
Lovely photos – I particularly like the daytime photos – quite special.
Thanks David. I really loved the ethereal quality to the light in the earlier shots. It was a very special sight indeed 🙂
